Wilma Koonce stopped in today after court looking for lodging and food.  Has early morning train to catch Thursday to head back to Pekin, IL. Said she could stay in shelter in Mattoon but train for Mattoon does not leave until morning.  We helped with $10 card for food.  She was here in December 2010 for same thing but said she didn’t want to take train to Mattoon that time, needed to go to Peoria.

Learned today the above person goes by both names and neither name appears on the court docket this week.  We will not be able to help her in the future.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effingham offers a Food Pantry the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from 3-4PM.  Just wanted to get the word out if anyone is needing help. Julie

Tommy said he was heading to his home in Ohio and had served in the military in Afghanistan.

Roy Gillespie, phone 342-9372.  He wanted $10 for gas for a trip to WalMart to buy groceries.  We did not provide assistance.  Note: when I called him back to let him know we could not provide assistance, his mother-in-law answered and said he was expecting a phone call.

Mark Dziabula and his wife Ashley stopped at Sacred Heart Church for a voucher for lodging.  Mark said that they had been evicted and had been staying with someone and he can not longer stay there, either.  I suggested talking to CEFS for housing and he already had and they said they could not help because they had helped before.  We did not provide any assistance.  They requested phone numbers for Salvation Army and Catholic Charities.

Deb McCracken - phone 663-4995 requested a night's lodging.  She lives in Effingham but can not live with the people who she had been staying with.  She mentioned Catholic Charities and after speaking to them they mentioned they paid for a couple of days in December.  We did not give assistance and encouraged her to speak to CEFS to find permanent housing.
